Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Finance
The University of Tennessee College of Business Administration invites applications and nominations for a tenure track, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in the Department of Finance. Review of applications will begin late summer 2010 and will continue until the position is filled. A primary research interest in banking, financial markets and related areas is preferred. Faculty members are expected to publish in top finance journals, to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to contribute to the intellectual life of the university. Candidates must be able to work effectively within a Department and a College that places significant emphasis on interaction and cross-functional integration. The position is being advertised at all levels, (assistant, associate, full professor), but the most likely hire will be at the assistant professor level. Effective date of employment will be August 1, 2011, or when filled. Compensation will be competitive.
Qualifications
Required: A Ph.D. degree in finance or a related field in hand as of the starting date of employment.
Preferred: The ideal candidate will have a commitment to a scholarly research record as evidenced by publications (or work toward publications) in top-tier journals in the field of finance, quality teaching in traditional programs at the undergraduate, masters and eventually executive education and doctoral levels, an appreciation of the role of the discipline of finance in other business functions, and the ability to work well with college and departmental colleagues in interdisciplinary programs.

The Department of Finance is one of six departments within the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. The Department has a mission that includes excellence in research, teaching and service, while working within the framework of the College's overall mission. The Department enjoys a strong and meaningful position within the College, and faculty members are active participants in College-wide programs and priorities, including executive education. The Department of Finance is a popular major at The University of Tennessee and includes curriculum at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels. The department values a collegial environment where faculty members work well with each other and with doctoral students.

Research requirements include a strong and continuing record of publication in top-tier journals in the field of finance and an interest in working with other faculty members and graduate students on research projects. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Ideally, candidates will have a primary interest in teaching banking and financial markets. Candidates with interests in other areas will also be considered.
