Description
Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College is seeking applications for the fulltime nine-month, renewable term, faculty position of Administrative Professional Technology Program Director/Instructor, effective August 17, 2010. Responsibilities include teaching, professional development and service to the institution and community. Assignment may involve teaching evenings, weekends or at off-campus locations. The ability to deliver content through online instruction or the willingness to develop the skills necessary to do so is required. A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is also required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
* MBA from an accredited college or university; OR
* Bachelor's degree AND Master's degree in Business Education or business related field
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Recent and successful experience teaching business courses.
* Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of professional expertise on the basis of:
* Recent teaching experience and college or university course work in the areas of computers, administrative professional.
* Knowledge of and ability to integrate computer technology in the classroom and be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and instruction through distance delivery modes, as appropriate.
* Understand current and emerging instructional and educational delivery technologies.
* A demonstrated, strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence.
* Possess strong interpersonal skills.
* Experience in curriculum development and online delivery.
* Desire to advise student organizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepares for and instructs, through traditional classroom and distance education modes, classes in the discipline of General Business and Administrative Professional Technology; Examples of the types of courses typically assigned include: Intro to Business, Fundamentals of Business Computer Technology, Transcription, Business Communications and Ethics, Computer Literacy, MCAS Certification, and CPS Certification; Assignments may be at off-campus centers and may also include evening and/or weekend classes.
* Provides availability and accessibility to students for purpose of academic consulting and support; communicates expectations and establishes clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means.
* Participates in district, division, department, or general faculty meetings; in-service training; curriculum development; academic consulting; workshops or seminars; service on college committees, or other activities within the scope of the position.
* In addition, faculty may: Instruct courses in related disciplines based upon individual qualifications and expertise; direct the work of assigned work-study students; advise student organizations; work evenings, alternative schedules, summer or at alternative work locations.
