Description
The Providence College School of Business (PCSB) seeks to fill the newly created Michael A. Ruane Endowed Chair for Business Engagement, with a start date of fall of 2011. Over the next four years the PCSB has committed to rethinking its current curriculum. The Ruane Chair, filled by an individual experienced in creating and researching curricula that immerse business students in real-world practice, will play a lead role in achieving this goal. The Ruane Chair may be appointed with tenure at the Associate or Full Professor level to a five year term, potentially renewable every five years.
Obligations of the Ruane Chair will include teaching at a one course per semester workload at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; creation and nurturing of faculty research in the area of practice-based learning; maintenance of a personal research agenda and scholarly output commensurate with an Associate or Full Professorship at Providence College; solidification of relationships with members of the business community to create active practice based learning opportunities for students and faculty; chairing the PCSB Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Committee; and the completion of other programs and initiatives designed to bring national recognition to the PCSB and College in the area of practice-based learning. A Ph.D. or other appropriate terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution is required.
